As more and more snow kept piling up, Ulrika, Leah, and I decided to find a hill down which to sled. Naturally we figured 65th and Phinney would be the best location; it's a hill so steep no driver would be foolish enough to try and make their way up or down it in these conditions. On our way there, we stopped off at a park to test our skill at navigating our makeshift vehicles:
By the time we'd made it to the bottom of the hill there was already a crowd (we're talking 11pm, btw). It turns out our fluorescent innertubes were actually pretty bonafide when compared to the Obama/Biden signs and cardboard boxes most people were using to sled down the hill.
Ulrika and Leah went down before me:
Here's my trip to the bottom:
Everything about Seattle has been wonderful these past few days. It's nice feeling in touch with our community

SNOW DAY!
Last night Ulrika, Leah (my co-worker, and our new housemate), and I attended a holiday party hosted by our friends Amy and Ty.
Ty and Amy live right in the heart of Ballard, the neighborhood where we live (and I work!). Afterwards we walked home:
Leah and Ulrika:
In front of our lovely house, in the traditionally Scandinavian neighborhood of Ballard:
Today the streets were still all icy. I slipped on the concrete steps to our front porch and landed right on my hip bone the other night, and last night I wound up flat on my back a few times!

Familjen Larssons Besök
Ulrika's parents are in town! Gösta has taken a bunch of pictures with his camera, but yesterday the memory was full, so I just snapped a bunch with my phone.
My pictures are from our visit to eastern Washington, where we stayed at the fantastic Sagecliffe Inn and Cave B Winery.
The Inn is adjacent to the Gorge Amphitheater, which was actually originally developed by the owners of Sagecliffe.
Apparently Dave Matthews stays here whenever he plays at the Gorge. Probably in the same cabin (pictured above) as we did. It is the most remote (despite faceing the rest of the resort), and affords the only northward view, up the Columbia River, towards Crescent Bar, WA (see below).
Along the way,
we stopped off
at the Ginko Petrified Forest,
near Vantage, WA.
The park sits
high above
the Columbia River,
and provides sweeping views
of the ancient basalt flats
exposed by the river.

In this picture
Gösta is checking out
a speedboat racing a jet-ski.
On our way home, we also drove through the town of Quincy,
where this beautiful old building reminded me of every small town,
in the Rocky Mountain West,
that I've ever been to,
but specifically, Rock Springs, Wyoming.

Google Maps Superstar!
A couple of weeks ago, having stopped by Tuuli to see Ulrika, I was walking along First Avenue when I spotted a peculiar car parked by the curb. When I got closer, I realized it was the car that drives around taking photos for Google Maps "Street View"! Right after I snapped this picture the driver came out of a cafe, with a vitamin water and a bag of Frito's. What a weird job.

Ingmar Bergman Gebhardt I
It has been one week since we got our little puppy, Ingmar; today he is seven weeks old. It's a beautiful day in Seattle, so Ulrika and I took him out to the backyard for the first time, to romp and rollick in the green grass and sun. Congratulations, Ingmar, and thanks for pooping outside.
thanks, dad!
